MOSQUITO NOTES

The staff at the Marin/Sonoma Mosquito & Vector Control District want you to know that we are here for your service, and working together we can greatly reduce the number of mosquito problems in your area.
Both Marin and Sonoma counties are being plagued with midges (mosquito-like insects) that breed in moist soil and leaf matter. While midges are non-biting and pose no health threats, they are annoying. Please note that the District does not control midges. As soon as the soil dries out, your midge problem should be gone.
While our technicians maintain records on all known mosquito-breeding sites in their service areas and check them on a regular basis, there are still a number of areas where homeowners and residents can help to reduce the mosquito problems in their neighborhood.

YOU CAN PREVENT MOSQUITO BREEDING

EMPTY OR COVER RECEPTACLES THAT WOULD OTHERWISE HOLD WATER.

PUT MOSQUITO FISH IN PERMANENT PONDS: FISH PONDS, ORNAMENTAL PONDS, ETC.

STORE OLD TIRES INSIDE OR COVER THEM.

CLEAN CLOGGED GUTTERS.

MANAGE IRRIGATION WATER EFFECTIVELY.

REPORT MOSQUITO BREEDING SITES.
